Judiciatrix rebuffs Butterfly and reveals that she was already under scrutiny by the Association under suspicion of violent behavior. She then informs Butterfly that employing Linda Knyght as a spy to get an advantage in a high-level contest is a direct violation of the Association law, so she won't be leaving the Collarseum as a free woman, let alone a Mistress.
In response, Butterfly claims to be above the Association laws. Judiciatrix advices her not to resist arrest, but realizes that Butterfly was feigning her fear earlier to conceal her true power. Butterfly is confident that she is more powerful than the Judiciatrix and offers to find out.
